Reconstruction of 227 nursing home beds and places on the Parrot site

The reconstruction of the EHPAD on the Parrot site of the Périgueux Hospital Center will take place on an occupied site, showcasing the full potential of the existing facilities. This project blends memory and modernity by introducing new uses while respecting the spirit of the place. It aims to redefine the site’s main structural axes through the strategic placement of built volumes, leveraging the site’s notable elements while accounting for the phasing constraints inherent to occupied-site construction.

Adopting a forward-thinking approach to the “nursing home of tomorrow,” the project promotes openness to the city, intergenerational interaction, and a home-like model that breaks away from traditional institutional codes.

Phase 1 : Start and Initial Construction

• Preparatory demolition : Clearance of the “Érables” building footprint, which is disused and no longer in use.
• Initial construction : Development of 137 EHPAD beds and places to stabilize the project financially and allow for the relocation of residents from the “Douglas” building.

          Breakdown : Permanent and temporary accommodation: 120 beds, including 2 emergency temporary stays

• Day care center : 12 places
• Night care center : 5 places
• PASA (Specialized Care Units) : 14 places
• Creation of resource spaces / third place : These areas aim to strengthen ties with the city and promote shared use. Non-renovated premises will be demolished.

Phase 2 is outside the scope of operations

Phase 3 : Finalization and Additional Construction

• Demolition of existing buildings: The “Douglas,” “Bouleaux,” and “Cèdres” buildings will be dismantled to make room for the final phase.
• Additional construction: 90 permanent care beds will be added to complete the nursing home and meet the full planned capacity.
