[EVENT] #AIA Life Designers, an architecture and engineering firm committed to women and girls in science.

As part of the program led by the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie and the Palais de la découverte, AIA Life Designers’ female engineers were delighted to take part in the outreach weekend on February 7 and 8, for the fourth consecutive year. A key moment dedicated to highlighting women’s career paths in science and engineering.

Many thanks to Charlotte Perrier Janitor, Christine Hoarau – Beauval, Zeineb Ellouze, Bérangère Marchand, Valentine Poumaere, Larissa Rakotoarison, Lili Zou, and Fatoumata Diagouraga for organizing and leading the event.

As Eric Bussolino—engineer, architect, Director of AIA Engineering and Environment, and facilitator of the Environmental Quality Working Group at Syntec-Ingénierie—reminds us:
“Our core identity stems from a simple idea: architecture brings together many disciplines that must be united to bring a project to life.”

Throughout February, and until March 8, these two major institutions are celebrating women in science through an ambitious program: conferences, talks, presentations, and inspiring events designed to make science accessible to all and to spark new vocations.

Highlights include:

At the Cité des sciences:

  • Women in Science Days – Engineers of the Future
  • Conference: “Ingenious Women – Inventing Tomorrow”
  • Mission εpsilon around Sophie Adenot’s departure for the ISS
  • Conference: “Girls and Boys, Join the Dance”

At Les Étincelles of the Palais de la découverte:

  • Talks dedicated to inspiring figures such as Ada Lovelace, Grace Hopper, Chien-Shiung Wu, Luke C. L. Yuan Natural Science Foundation Inc., Sophie Germain, and Elizebeth Smith Friedman.

This commitment alongside the teams at the Cité des sciences reflects our deep conviction: designing and transforming the environments of tomorrow requires diversity of talent and equal opportunities. There are no gender barriers when it comes to curiosity, creativity, and scientific innovation. — Delphine Beji

In February, let’s celebrate the women shaping science today… and those who will shape it tomorrow. And thank you to Sylvie Retailleau for taking part in the virtual visit experience within the 3D model of the Centre Pompidou.
