Here are some photos of the progress on the construction of the International University of Rabat in Morocco, which this week is hosting 15 second-year students from the Master’s program in Urban Planning and Development at Paris-Sorbonne University in partnership with the AIA Foundation.
This week-long study trip includes site visits, conferences, and workshops with architecture students focusing on territorial diagnostics by incorporating health determinants. Four groups of French and Moroccan students are working on the Mohammed V Avenue, the hospital district – including the new Ibn Sina project by AIA Life Designers – the UIR Campus, and the Oudayas waterfront. At the end of the week, they will present a diagnostic in the form of a sensitive map to a jury chaired by Christine Hoarau-Beauval, a historian of the contemporary city, deputy director, and research director of the AIA Foundation.
Thank you, Mahfoud Bennacer, for today’s tour of the construction site of the University Hospital and the Faculty of Health Sciences. The University Hospital Center comprises the International University Hospital of Rabat (H-UIR) and the educational buildings for Health Sciences, which will include the International Faculty of Medicine of Rabat, the Higher School of Paramedical Sciences of Rabat, and the School of Biomedical Engineering. The University Hospital Center will have about forty specialties supported by cutting-edge technical facilities, with a capacity of 450 beds. Situated in a privileged environment with green spaces and state-of-the-art equipment, the CHU will strengthen healthcare services in the region and align with the broader vision of enhancing Morocco’s healthcare infrastructure.
