THE CHRS AT THE HEART OF THE “GREEN CORE”
Located in the new ZAC Ecopôle Seine Aval in Carrières-Sous-Poissy, the CHRS site is positioned right in the “green core,” which supports the revitalization of the landscape and local agricultural economy initiated by this major urban and landscape project.
A LUSHLY VEGETATED SITE
Facing the Vanderbilt Castle Park, the CHRS site appears, due to its shape, to be “paired” with the public garden surrounding the Tessier brothers’ monument. Heavily wooded, it forms part—along with the surrounding parks and gardens—of a pre-existing “natural lung” for the future Ecopôle.
AN EMERGING ECO-DISTRICT
Accessible from Chemin des Grandes Terres to the west, the ZAC plans to border the CHRS site to the south and east with pedestrian and bike-friendly paths, while to the north, a new swale will be added along the parcel’s boundary. Located near Workshop 51 and aligned with the ambitions of the Ecopôle, the project is designed to be sustainable, eco-responsible, and environmentally conscious.
A PROGRAM BALANCING INDEPENDENCE AND DIVERSITY
The social housing program is simply integrated into the building and spread across its different levels in accordance with the design brief. From the ground floor, the section dedicated to the emergency accommodation center (CHU) extends vertically within the building, allowing for this specific function to be grouped together while still promoting floors that encourage interaction and diversity. CHRS housing units occupy the rest of the building up to the inhabited rooftop. From ground to roof, the collective spaces and circulation areas are designed to form a large “public link,” transitioning from wide shared areas like the multi-purpose hall or walkways, to more intimate and specific places such as loggias, cabin thresholds, or garden greenhouses.
