On Tuesday, June 17, artist Romain Froquet, creator of the artwork, together with Tristan Israel, Marion Michaut and Antoine Perceval from the architecture firm AIA Life Designers, revealed the behind-the-scenes of this artistic installation that transforms Europe’s largest pedestrian square into a true place of coolness and life.
Inspired by the canuts of Lyon, the artwork Urban Weaving combines wooden structures with suspended drapes to create a shaded, refreshing pathway on a listed heritage site, while respecting its historic character. A new page in history!
As partners in this project, we are proud of this installation that offers a new way to experience Place Bellecour: a more welcoming, hospitable, and refreshing space, designed for all residents and visitors.
Congratulations to all the teams for this collaborative achievement, blending art, architecture, and structural engineering.
Official unveiling in July!
